We offer a comprehensive end-to-end training service bringing engineers, designers and inspectors up to National Standards.
Our training will help you with competence towards the SP203-1 scheme and if you are currently certified for BAFE SP203-1 or are thinking of going for fire compliance then our training courses are for you.
We can also act as a Quality Manager to produce, drive and continually review your Quality
Management System.
We also provide an internal auditing service that is specific to the fire and security industry, for companies that follow the ISO 9001 quality management standard.
In addition, to assist compliance with certification scheme requirements, we provide quality management systems & certification documentation products.
Simon Lawrence
Director / Principle trainer
Simon formed Ember Compliance in 2000 following many years working in senior positions in fire & security companies both in the UK and abroad.
He is a seasoned professional working mainly within the fire & security industry since 1985. Simon's roles have included Designer, Technical Manager, Projects Manager and Commercial Manager based in the UK for security and FD&FA companies and overseas with Architectural / Engineering companies on major blue chip construction projects.
With Ember Compliance, Simon is our principle trainer and has been providing training and independent quality management, technical and business support services with particular focus on Change Management and Accreditation Schemes (Fire/Security system schemes, BAFE SP203, BAFE SP201, BAFESP205, ISO 9001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001). Simon is also an experienced lead auditor working directly to clients for 3rd party Accreditation organisations in addition to providing training services for fire industry trade organisations.
Louise Brown
Director/Head of Auditing
Louise is responsible for the provision and delivery of all aspects of the Ember Compliance business. As an integral member of the company since 2014, she brings 15 years of experience as a fire & security manager with an electrical contracting company.
Successfully gaining and maintaining industry certification for a variety of businesses from electrical contractors to fire, security and data system providers.
Outside work, Louise manages to fit running, snowboarding, holidays and music concerts around family commitments.
Sharon Lawrence
Director / Office Manager
Sharon has achieved a successful career in social care before joining Ember Compliance. She provides support with financial management, administration, personnel, and liaising with clients.
Outside work and family, hobbies include; swimming, walking, eating, watching films and walking her beloved dog ‘Summer’.
Mike Wilde
Lead Consultant
With 24 years in the Royal Navy and subsequent roles in communications and technical support, Mike is an experienced professional. He is our lead Consultant working with the team to deliver training and auditing.
When not working, Mike enjoys supporting Carlisle United and exploring the Cumbrian fells with his dogs.
Charles Gormley
Lead Auditor/Trainer
Charles joined Ember Compliance in 2024 and brings with him more than 30 years’ experience of working in the Fire and Security Industry, primarily as a senior technical support and training manager for a global fire detection manufacturer.
Charles has provided his expertise on numerous projects in many countries including the UK, Europe, Nordics, Middle East, USA and South America and is now pleased to be able to bring his extensive knowledge and experience to his role at Ember Compliance.
Outside work Charles enjoys cryptography, computer programming, watching football and spending time with his family.
Elaine Scott
Administrative Assistant
Elaine, our dedicated Administration Assistant, handles training and screening admin along with various other tasks. With her organisational skills, she ensures the smooth and efficient operation of our training programs. Elaine is an invaluable asset, managing schedules and logistics to ensure seamless operations behind the scenes.
When not at work she enjoys walking, gardening, spending time with family and friends and socialising.
Jenni Innes
Administration Assistant
Jenni joined the Ember Compliance team this year, bringing her excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to the role of Administration Assistant. Working closely with Louise, Jenni plays a key role in supporting our auditing clients, ensuring smooth communication and helping manage essential documentation and processes. A significant part of her role involves conducting security screening, and ensuring that all necessary checks are completed accurately and efficiently for compliance purposes. With her dedication and friendly approach, she’s quickly become an invaluable part of the team, ensuring our clients' compliance needs are met with efficiency and professionalism.
Outside of work, Jenni is a busy wife and mum to two daughters. When she's not running around as the family's designated taxi driver, she enjoys walking and socialising with friends. Jenni loves spending quality time with her family and friends, but also finds joy in creating balance between her bustling home life and her fulfilling role here at Ember.
Lisa Ashbury
Marketing Consultant
Lisa is responsible for all aspects of Marketing for the business. She brings with her over 25 years of marketing experience within the security industry. She has created our Brand, Social Media and Website strategies allowing us to expand into the digital marketing space. She is also responsible for creating our company collateral which we use for training and auditing.
Outside of work Lisa is a keen runner, mountain biker & kayaker and loves nothing better than being outdoors.
