Course description

It is a requirement within codes of practice e.g., BS 5839-1, and within legislation e.g., Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, that duties are placed upon employers and employees regarding health & safety and in particular electrical safety.

Safe isolation of supplies is the cornerstone of safe working practice for technicians working with electrotechnical systems such as FD&FA, intruder alarms etc. This course takes the learners from legislation, electrical theory, safe systems of work culminating in practical assessment of safe isolation.

On completion of this course and the practical assessment, learners will be aware of their responsibilities, working with safe systems of work (e.g., permit to work) and have practical experience of safe isolation of supplies.

All those involved in the installation, commissioning, maintenance and modification of fire safety and security systems including fire and security system employers, specifiers, designers, verifiers, installers, commissioners, maintainers, and modifiers.
